David Sloan
David Sloan, Ed.S., LPC, was born and raised in Columbia and has spent the majority of his life here. David received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Presbyterian College, and after a brief stint in an unfulfilling job in sales, David realized he had to pursue a career in which he could improve people’s lives. Himself a cancer survivor, David pursued a career in fundraising and development with the American Cancer Society and dedicated 8 years to various health-related not-for-profits throughout the Carolinas. In 2011 he decided to make a career shift and began pursuing education and training in both counseling and coaching. In 2014, David received degree as Specialist in Counseling from the University of South Carolina. Additionally, David has completed training from the Board Certified Coaching Training Program, as well as the ADD Coach Academy to become a Professional ADHD Coach.
Specializing in the treatment of ADHD, David directs our Behavioral Lifestyle Improvement Program – addressing ADHD related needs and challenges of ADHD adults and families. With an approach rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and strengths based coaching, David also employs a variety of techniques tailored to meet each client’s particular needs. David and his client’s work collaboratively to identify and cultivate the client’s strengths – which are often masked by the challenges and problems. Leveraging these strengths, David and his clients collaboratively create solutions, making sure to celebrate each success along the way.
Away from the office, David enjoys spending time with his wife and children, playing sports, Netflix binges, and building “stuff.”
